finally de CNY disaster has ended and it's a 2-day break for now... saw many different types of ppl around during de sales of oranges... i tink u do any kind of sales u will realise that not everyone is de goody kind of ppl, neither are they de same as u, who haf de same thoughts n actions... getting scolded by customers, getting irritated n frustrated by their fussiness etc etc is part n parcel in my life for de past 1 wk plus... i'll quite briefly sum up wad happened these past few days.. (although i noe my 'briefly' wont be that brief =X)

my memory isnt that fantastic, so i cant rmb everything that happened during de sales, so i guess i'll juz bring up some of de more significant stuff i rmb... many kinds of customers showed up..

first up is de super enthu lucky draw couple... they wanna buy a total of 78 boxes of oranges (big n small), but unlike other customers who juz pay all at once, they wanna split them up to 35 receipts, each being at least 20 bucks... reason is simple.. there's a lucky draw at hougang pt that requires customers to attach their receipts to de lucky draw form.. n de requirement is that de receipt muz be of at least 20 dollars.. n coz de cashier at our counter at that time is oso a temp worker, 17-yr old young gal, she got quite nervous abt this transaction coz since de couple wan to pay all de amt at once (they hafta pay separately in order to get so many receipts), de cashier has to simulate separate payments to generate so many receipts.. i dun quite noe how to phrase this properly so that it's understandable =/ well anyway, de cashier kept wanting us to calculate on de calculator that de figures r correct so that she would haf an excess or not enough money in de register... while de cashier is concentrating on this, de couple keeps saying sarcastic stuff like 'this is only simple thing nia, oso do so slow.. u come to our uniform shop den u noe wad's called tough'.. i was tinking like 'wad de hell, is u who wan so many receipts de leh.. still wan say so many unnecessary stuff for wad'..

second would be another couple, this time it's a henpecked husband wif a demanding wife... at that time in de morning, one type of orange is out of stock, but somehow i tink one of de workers forgot abt this n told de husband to pay first before he can get this type of orange... n so de husband paid n he came to me to get his stuff.. when i saw de receipt, i stun tio coz i realised that he paid for an item we dun haf... n so i explained de situation to him n so he decided to change to sth cheaper... n so he n i went to de cashier to tell her abt this... let say de orange that's out of stock is $13, n de guy wanna change to sth that's $11.. so de cashier do de necessary procedure n gif him back a change of $2... so while i was checking his new item, his wife came along n saw that de oranges r different... so when she noe abt this, she say she dun wan de oranges i'm checking n say she would rather get a total refund if she cant get de oranges they wan initially... when she noe that our new stock would be coming in de afternoon, she say she will ask her husband come in de afternoon to get den.. this is as opposed to wad de husband said initially, when he said he dun wan come down in de afternoon again to get de oranges he wanted initially n so he decided to switch... n so de husband returned de $2 to de cashier, n now de cashier duno wad to do, as she would haf an excess of $2 in her register... n de problem is she's oso a temp worker who's oso 17 yr old... (different from above one) a few min later, while we were busy wif our stuff, a customer told de auntie (my colleague) at our counter that she tink de cashier is in tears... when i looked over, it really seems like so, coz her eyes r red n there seem to be tears inside... den i tink it's shld be due to de excess $2 she haf ba... later on i did found a chance to console her.. actually oso not console la, more like preaching =X coz somehow (i forgot why), my colleague told me he very 'fan' (hanyu pinyin) of de customers, den i told him 'fan' for wad, oso cant affect de situation now, might as well wait for de consequences, coz 'boat reach bridge end auto straight'... den i oso added a little joke at de end... during this convo, we were juz beside de cashier n so i'm quite sure she heard wad i said, so i tink i tried to help console/preach ba...

from de above 2 cases, it seems like cashier is a tough job, coz like very easily kana scolded one... they will like get scolded when they haf either excess or not enough money in register... oso, when there's excess in de register, they wont get to keep de excess, but they hafta pay for any not enough money in de register... i heard 1 cashier paid 200+ bucks coz there's a missing 200+ bucks in her register...

moving on, 3rd customer i rmb more is kang's mother =/ she came to de counter, n heng heng i was standing right in front, wif no other customer... den she immediately call out my name... so i hafta help get oranges for her... quite tough a job i feel coz i needa get not only not spolit ones, but oso get gd-looking ones, coz is 'shou' ppl ma... after that i tink she didnt noe who i m de... she only noes my name n so she juz wanna ask for me wif my name... lolol... i oso duno if i got gd enough oranges for her anot...

like i said at de start, getting scolded is part of our job... of coz i wasnt spared... once i was scolded coz de customer misunderstood wad i said... he asked if one particular kind of orange is available in small pack, n so i told him yes... after he paid for it, he realised de oranges in de small pack is smaller than those in de box of 38s... den he scolded me for not tellin him de truth blah blah... but come on la, common sense oso tell u de oranges will be smaller wad... how u tink u can stuff 20 oranges of big sizes in a small pack? but den again, this scolding i encountered is quite mild liao.. my colleagues got experience combo scolding de... one haf to endure de scoldings of a husband n wife while another is enduring de scoldings of a mother n daughter... those r much more fiercer than wad i experienced, coz u r not given much chance to explain urself as they take turns to scold u...

oso, my job wasnt really easy coz i'm not helped by colleagues who r slack n passive all de time... de new boys i mentioned that i'm not impressed wif in previous posts r always slacking behind, while me n my other colleagues r busy wif de crowd at de counter, n they wont auto come help us when there r other customers not being served yet... we de ones who r busy constantly r quite pissed off wif them but we cant do much to them... they will act like they r busy when my TL comes along n they continue to slack when my TL is not around... it's quite demoralising wif this kind of colleagues around coz u will feel y u hafta work so hard when they r slacking n they r not caught or penalised...

this 'summary' is getting long so i tink i shall stop here for today... for de past 1+ wk, i oso learnt more abt X, de young man colleague i mentioned before in de previous posts.. i tink i'll talk more abt this in my next post ba... anyway, happy CNY to all! =D
